Flavour Profile

Tasting Notes…

From the El Quien Estate (situated about one and a half kilometres from the world famous Vega Sicilia vineyards) Chafandin wine is dense cherry-ruby coloured with some violet hints. This wine delivers a complex and intense array of captivating aromas: dark fruits, cocoa, fresh coffee, fine tobacco, coconut, juicy plums, cola, plus mineral, menthol and eucalyptus notes that are characteristic of the vineyard. The palate is well-balanced, ample, rich, intense and fleshy with concentrated red fruits and perfectly integrated spicy notes from the oak. The finish is long, firm and satisfying

We say…

Well this wine blew our socks off!! The previous vintage won bronze at the 2010 International Wine Challenge and we think think one is better! It carries our recommendation when you need a wine for that extra special occasion. The good news is that it will reward ageing for you to cherish for a good few years

Our Alternative Wines

Verum Seleccion de Familia Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes…

Classic elements of Cabernet Franc on the nose including wild strawberry, blackberry, pencil shavings and a hint of blackcurrant leaf. This is riper than a typical old world Cabernet Franc and does not show too much greenness, instead offering more body and depth of fruit and a slight touch of herbal mint. The fuller bodied palate is elegant with firm tannins but a vital balancing acidity. Cedar notes show from the use of French oak and the finish is dominated by bright red fruit and mocha spice.

Price range: £134.00 through £265.50

Karim Mussi Abras Malbec

Tasting Notes…

Fresh plums, violets, blueberry, crushed-stone and mineral aromas on the nose lead to a fresh and brightly fruited, full-bodied palate with firm, silky tannins.

Price range: £131.50 through £260.50

Algodon Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes…

Vanilla, mocha and dark fruits fill the enticing nose.  The palate is rich and offers a fuller style of Pinot but retains elegance.  The palate is smooth with dark cherries, sandalwood and creamy vanilla flavours.

We say…

This is superbly textured Pinot Noir.
